Accounting Specialist (Accounts Receivable/Payable)
Job Overview
American Marine Canvas & Upholstery, a leading provider of custom marine canvas and upholstery for luxury yachts and large vessels, is seeking a meticulous and experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team. Based in our New York, New York office, this Full-Time position is crucial for maintaining the financial health of our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all our financial operations. We are looking for a dedicated professional who can contribute to our continued success in the luxury marine industry.
The salary for this position ranges from $45,000 to $110,000 USD per annum, commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full cycle of accounts payable, including processing supplier invoices, verifying transactions, and scheduling timely payments.
- Oversee all accounts receivable activities, from generating and issuing client invoices to tracking payments and following up on overdue accounts.
- Perform daily data entry of financial transactions into our accounting system with a high degree of accuracy.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of bank statements, credit card statements, and vendor accounts to ensure all records are correct.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Address and resolve any invoicing discrepancies or payment issues with clients and suppliers in a professional manner.
- Maintain organised and comprehensive financial records and documentation.
Qualifications
- Proven professional experience in an accounting role, with a strong focus on accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- A solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly with advanced skills in MS Excel.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms).
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A degree or relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
