Sun Energy Solar LLC
is seeking a motivated Accounting Specialist to join our team. This role combines the following key functions:


  • Accounts Payable
    – Verify and enter vendor invoices, coordinate payments, and reconcile vendor statements.
  • Accounts Receivable & Billing – Prepare and submit AIA billings.
  • Financial Reporting & Reconciliations – Perform monthly / annual reconciliations, including bank statements, credit card transactions, and general ledger accounts.
  • Subcontractor & Vendor Management – Process subcontractor pay applications, manage vendor invoices, prepare lien waivers, and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Job Costing & Budgeting – Track expenses against project budgets, code costs to specific solar projects, and analyze project profitability.


Construction Accounting Specialist Responsibilities:


  • Prepare monthly project billings and lien waivers; effectively communicate with project managers and principals in charge regarding contract documents and change orders related to billing.
  • Analyze the projects monthly with Project Managers to prepare for financial closing.
  • Prepare and distribute job cost analysis reports.
  • Manage monthly bookkeeping for multiple clients using QuickBooks Online (QBO) accounting system and prepare weekly payment reports for approval.
  • Maintain accurate ledgers with proper coding, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Process bank/credit card reconciliations, AP and AR entries.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reports for accuracy and tax readiness.
  • Flag issues like uncategorized transactions or unusual balances.
  • Upload and document supporting materials for all journal entries and financial records, maintain organized project finance folders (contracts, COs, invoices, payments) and keep client records, SOPs, and internal notes up to date.
  • Manage weekly Accounts Receivable aging report.
  • Proactively follow up on all invoices before due date.
  • Provide weekly cash flow projection report to ownership.
  • Maintain job costing and project records in QuickBooks Online (QBO) accounting system.
  • Run project-level P&Ls and basic financial reports.
  • Continuously improving accounting processes for efficiency and compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor, CEO or COO.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or minimum of 5 years of experience in construction projects (Preferred)
  • Experience with Procore and Viewpoint Spectrum
  • Familiarity with purchase orders, vendor billing, and job costing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Prior experience in project accounting
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and mediation skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Able to work productively, independently, and as part of a team.
  • Prior experience with Procore preferred but not required.
  • Experience with AIA billings
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel required); experience with Bluebeam REVU and or Adobe a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Pay:
Salary ($55,000 - $75,000) depending on experience


Expected hours:
40 per week
