The Accounting Specialist I is responsible for compiling, balancing, and reporting financial information on the performance and financial position of the Credit Union.

Essential Duties:

Maintain sound knowledge of Credit Union policy, procedures, documentation, and regulations related to area of responsibility.
Balance and reconcile assigned General Ledger (GL) Accounts with supporting backup monthly or quarterly. Analyze GLs for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with policy. Inform the Accounting Manager and/or Controller of discrepancies requiring special attention. Ensure outstanding items are cleared in a timely manner and are clearly identified.
Support branches/departments with financial information as needed.
Process Accounts Payables, Expense Reports, and Corporate Visas.
Prepare and post GL entries as needed.
Ensure research and adjustments for staff discrepancies are performed in an accurate and timely manner.
Establish and maintain effective coordination and communication with vendors.
Demonstrate strong regulatory knowledge applicable to this position and understand and comply with government regulations with particular emphasis on the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), US Patriot Act and related regulations.
Actively participate and fulfill expectations in the Credit Union Email Security Awareness Program as outlined in the Information Security Program Acknowledgement document.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience:

One year to three years of similar or related experience. One-year financial institution experience preferred, and familiarity with basic accounting/bookkeeping functions preferred.
Experience with Accounts Payable and Concur strongly preferred.

Education:
(1) A two-year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.

Additional Details:

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.

Location: Lending Center - 17800 SE Mill Plain Blvd. Vancouver, WA 98682

Position Type: Hybrid - Approximately 80% work from home. Full-time, 40 hours per week.
