The County is currently accepting applications for the position of Accounting Technician IV—Accounts Payable. This position performs advanced or specialized technician accounting work requiring the application of accepted rules of accounting to a variety of procedural and substantive guides to determine courses of action: including but not limited to; maintaining the disbursement of accounts including encumbering of purchases, auditing of invoices, preparing vouchers, posting, reconciling, and preparing other necessary reports; entering approved invoices for construction contracts, retainage and recurring transactions, including appropriations; maintaining the vendor files, including but not limited to the creation of p-card and purchasing vendors, review and creation of annual 1099’s, address updates and corrections; reviewing the Board of Commissioners meeting agenda and minutes for approval of expense items that will be processed; and training and assisting departments for invoice entry, allocations, p-card transactions, and other AP transactions.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
Requires considerable knowledge of the application of established accounting principles, practices, and techniques to standardized accounting transactions; considerable knowledge of established governmental and departmental budgeting and bookkeeping practices and procedures; ability to understand, interpret, and apply the laws and regulations governing the maintenance of financial records; ability to prepare fiscal reports and analyses of financial statements; and ability to present information clearly and concisely in oral and written form.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field and one year of experience in accounting or bookkeeping clerical work; Associate’s Degree in related field and three years of related work experience; or graduation from high school including or supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting and five years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All Degrees/Coursework must be from an appropriated accredited institution.

Pay: $49,500.00 - $54,400.00 per year
