Accounting/Human Resources Assistant


DGI has a current need for a full-time Accounting/Human Resources Assistant. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing Accounting and HR- related duties on a professional level and will work closely with the Accounting and Human Resources teams.

  • Competitive salary; $50,000 - $65,000/year depending on experience

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties may include, but not be limited to, the following:


  • Accounting:
    • Assist accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
    • Monitor and reconcile bank, credit card, and investment accounts ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies
    • Assist the Accountant in preparing financial statements, reports, and budgets
    • Assist the Accountant with audit preparation to ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements
    • Assist with other day-to-day operations of Accounting functions and duties
  • Human Resources:
    • Assist in payroll and maintain confidentiality while managing HR information.
    • Administer compensation and benefit plans.
    • Assist recruitment and employee onboarding processes
    • Maintain the online HR portal, validate internal employee changes to maintain data integrity and alignment with standard operating procedures.
    • Manage employee performance reviews.
    • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
    • Assist with other day-to-day operations of HR functions and duties

Required Qualifications and Experience


  • Minimum an associate degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Minimum 1 year of Accounting/HR experience
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks accounting software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data entry)
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles (debits, credits, ledgers)
  • Ability to process invoices, manage reconciliations, and update records
  • Strong data entry and numerical accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, follow-up, problem solving and creative thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task with attention to detail
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent people skills AND demonstrated dependability and trustworthiness.
  • Sound judgment and analytical prowess to navigate complex challenges.
  • High level of discretion with confidential material.
  • Ability to work autonomously and remain calm under pressure.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and other MS Office applications.
  • Willingness and aptitude to adapt to new processes and technical systems.
  • Able to pass routine background checks including credit, criminal and drug screening.

Job Type: Full-time


Pay Range: $50,000 - $65,000/year depending on experience


Location: Columbia, MD


Working Hours: Normal Work Hours – Monday – Friday (anticipate 40 per week).
