Job Summary
We are seeking a Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) to join our leadership team as Accounts & Finance Manager (Head of Finance Department). In this senior role, you will oversee all financial operations of Al Thakeel and its brand portfolio, ensuring strong financial control, strategic planning, and compliance with UAE regulations. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience (post-qualification) in finance/accounting, including managerial roles, and a background in retail or e-commerce. You will lead the finance team, manage day-to-day accounting, budgeting, and reporting, and provide financial insights to support investment decisions, mergers & acquisitions, new brand launches, and other strategic initiatives. This position is based in Dubai, UAE, and reports directly to the Director of Brand Development & CEO.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Compliance: Oversee the day-to-day finance and accounting operations, ensuring all financial activities adhere to IFRS standards and local UAE regulations.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports, providing insights on brand(s) performance to the senior management. Ensure timely closing of accounts and present key findings and recommendations for decision-making.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Manage the budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with department heads, including annual budget preparation, rolling forecasts, and variance analysis.
Cash Flow & Working Capital: Monitor and manage the company’s & brands working capital and cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity and financial health at all. Prepare cash flow forecasts and implement strategies to optimize cash utilization.
Investments, Acquisitions & Feasibility: Conduct advanced financial modeling, due diligence, and feasibility studies for potential investments, mergers & acquisitions, and strategic partnerships, evaluating their financial impact. Review contracts and agreements from a finance perspective and advise on risks and returns for new business opportunities.
Strategic Financial Planning: Provide strategic financial input to support business expansion plans, brand acquisitions, new product launches, and cost optimization. Work closely with the executive team to drive profitability improvement and long-term value creation for the company.
Products Costing & Cost Management: Providing accurate cost calculations for the brands & products to ensure the profitability of the product(s) & business.
Audit & Tax Compliance: Coordinate and manage all internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of audit points and implementation of recommendations. Oversee compliance with UAE tax laws – ensure accurate and on-time filing of VAT returns and corporate tax submissions in line with regulatory requirements. You must be well aware of TAXATION related to retail & eCommerce industry.
Banking & Partnerships: Liaise with banks, financial institutions, and external partners to manage the company’s banking relationships and funding needs. This includes negotiating credit facilities, managing loan/LC documentation, and supporting partnership agreements from a finance perspective to facilitate business growth.
Financial Controls & Systems: Develop and implement financial policies, controls, and standard operating procedures to improve efficiency and mitigate risks. Maintain and upgrade the company’s financial systems – including implementation of ERP software (SAP/Oracle).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams such as R&D, Brand Development, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Inventory & Others to provide financial guidance on business decisions and ensure alignment of financial plans with operational objectives. Support other departments with financial insights (e.g. pricing analysis, promotional ROI, supply chain cost optimization) and promote financially informed decision-making company-wide.
Qualifications & Skills
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 7+ years of post-qualification experience in accounting and finance. (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent certifications are acceptable.)
- Industry Experience: Proven experience in finance roles within the retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods sector, preferably in the UAE, is highly desired. Familiarity with product costing, inventory accounting, and marketplace (online - ecommerce sales) dynamics will be an advantage.
- Financial Knowledge: Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS), budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management, and UAE taxation (VAT and the new Corporate Tax regime).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (such as SAP or Oracle) and accounting softwares for financial management. Advanced MS Excel skills for financial modeling, data analysis, and reporting automation are required.
Analytical & Presentation Skills: Excellent analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail. Able to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Should be highly presentable with strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of preparing executive-level reports and presentations.
Leadership & Team Management: Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing and coaching a finance/accounting team to achieve goals. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and drive results under tight deadlines.
Strategic Mindset: High level of business acumen and strategic thinking. Proven ability to partner with senior management in driving financial strategy and to contribute to key business decisions with a problem-solving, forward-looking approach.
M&A and Investment Exposure: Experience in conducting financial due diligence, valuations, or integration for mergers, acquisitions, or investments is a plus (e.g., involvement in any M&A projects or feasibility studies).
UAE Market Familiarity: Prior work experience in the UAE business environment is strongly preferred, with understanding of local banking practices, regulatory frameworks, and cultural aspects of doing business in the region.
