Accounts Payable Process Owner / P2P Specialist

Job Title: Accounts Payable Process Owner / Procure to Pay (P2P) Specialist

Location: Wichita, KS
Reports To: Assistant Corporate Controller

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, in office (not remote); 40 hours weekly


Position Summary

The Accounts Payable Process Owner is responsible for managing and improving the entire AP workflow, ensuring timely and accurate processing of purchase orders, invoices, and vendor payments. This role does not manage people; instead, it serves as the primary owner of AP processes, systems, and standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a PO‑driven environment, excels at identifying workflow improvements, and can help modernize the company’s P2P (Procure‑to‑Pay) operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Purchase Order & Workflow Management:
    • Manager the full PO-to-invoice workflow, including 3-way matching.
    • Monitor PO compliance and resolve discrepancies with procurement and operations.
    • Maintain accurate PO records and assist in implementing PO policies.
  • Process Ownership & Optimization:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline AP and PO processes.
    • Lead system improvements, automation initiatives, and standardization.
    • Partner with IT, procurement, and operations to enhance efficiency.
  • Vendor Relations & Support:
    • Serve as main point of contact for vendor inquiries and issue resolution.
    • Maintain positive vendor relationships and help negotiate terms when needed.
  • Compliance & Reporting:
    • Ensure AP operations follow company policies and internal controls.
    • Support audits through documentation and process explanations.
  • Invoice & Payment Processing:
    • Oversee timely and accurate invoice processing.
    • Provide recommendations for payment runs.
    • Manage electronic payments and check processing workflows.


Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands on Accounts Payable experience.
  • Experience in PO-driven environment required.
  • Strong knowledge of AP processes, ERP/financial systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to analyze workflows and implement improvements.
