Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist with experience in construction to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, and maintaining financial records in compliance with GAAP standards. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a strong understanding of financial concepts.

Duties

• Process vendor invoices/pay applications and ensure proper approval before payment.
• Scheduling and preparing payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers) and ensuring they are sent out timely
• Perform account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
• Enter and process change orders and purchase orders
• Meet with project managers as needed
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies related to invoices or payments.
• Conduct analysis of accounts payable data to identify trends or issues.
• Maintain vendor files, updating account information and resolving discrepancies
• Utilize accounting software for efficient data entry and management.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and preparing annual 1099 forms
• Participate in audits related to accounts payable processes.

Experience

• Proven experience in accounts payable or general accounting roles.
• Familiarity with various accounting software including Sage.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed account reconciliations.
