Over the past 10 years, DestiNATION Transport has continued to grow, and with that growth comes an increasing need within our Accounting Operations team. We are seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated Accounts Payable Specialist to support carrier payment processing and load documentation review. This role is critical to ensuring our carrier partners are paid accurately and on time.

This position reports directly to the Accounts Payable Manager and works closely with Accounting, Operations, and our CFO.

Position Summary

The Accounts Payable Specialist is primarily responsible for reviewing, verifying, and processing load-related documents to ensure timely and accurate carrier payment. This role requires a strong understanding of transportation documentation, the ability to identify discrepancies, and effective communication with carriers, operations staff, and accounting leadership. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working through exceptions, and passionate about accuracy and follow-through.

Key Responsibilities

Load Documentation & Carrier Pay

• Review and verify load documentation including rate confirmations, bills of lading (BOLs), proof of delivery (PODs), lumper receipts, and accessorial documentation.
• Ensure documents align with agreed-upon rates, accessorials, and load details prior to payment.
• Identify missing, incorrect, or incomplete documentation and proactively resolve issues with carriers and internal teams.
• Process carrier payments through TriumphPay in accordance with company guidelines and payment terms.
• Accurately code and enter invoices and load payments into accounting systems.

Issue Resolution & Collaboration

• Communicate professionally with carriers regarding payment status, documentation requirements, and discrepancies.
• Partner with Operations and the Accounts Payable Manager to work through load exceptions, disputes, and special situations.
• Escalate unresolved issues appropriately while maintaining positive carrier relationships.
• Support continuous improvement of documentation and payment workflows.

General Accounts Payable Duties

• Process accounts payable invoices based on due date terms and internal approval requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred; accounting, finance, or business-related field a plus.
• 1–2 years of experience in accounts payable, accounting operations, or a related role.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately review and process high volumes of documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in transportation, logistics, or 3PL environments.
• Familiarity with load documentation such as BOLs, PODs, rate confirmations, and accessorial charges.
• Experience working with TriumphPay or similar carrier payment platforms.

Compensation

• Salary range: $49,000–$52,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
