Accounts Payable Specialist (Construction)

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist with construction accounting experience to join our team. This position will handle the day-to-day accounts payable functions for our company and work closely with vendors, subcontractors, and our internal team. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (required)
• At least 1 year of construction accounting experience (required)
• Understanding of construction job cost structures including cost codes and phase codes
• Familiarity with subcontractor/general contractor payment processes and pay-when-paid terms
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks

Responsibilities

• Enter and process A/P invoices accurately and in a timely manner
• Code invoices to the correct jobs, cost codes, and phases
• Prepare and process check runs
• Work with vendors to obtain statements and reconcile accounts when discrepancies arise
• Communicate with vendors regarding payment status and resolve issues as needed
• Assist with preparation and processing of certified payroll
• Maintain organized records for all accounts payable transactions
• Assist with occasional ad-hoc accounting or administrative tasks as needed

This role is a good fit for someone who has experience in construction accounting and is comfortable managing the full accounts payable process while working with vendors and subcontractors on a regular basis.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
