Position Description

Pay Grade: Technician 5

This position provides accounts payable and grant administration support to the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Director of the Wake Tech Foundation.

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

  • Collects and/or creates invoices and payment requests based on approved requirements, process through approval chain, enters into software. Distributes checks, requests ACH payments, manages digital or physical gift cards while maintaining complete records for grant reporting and audit requirements

  • Processes payments to vendors and students, generates invoices and helps to reconcile invoices from the college, which include actively managed private grants

  • Answers inquiries, solves problems, and works with Sponsored Programs and Foundation accounting personnel to track, service and communicate with grant-funded students and program coordinators in various apprenticeship programs, and Foundation grant project team leads

Works with program coordinator to track individual students for payments authorized, payments made, and total progress toward completion

Works with Sponsored Programs and Foundation accounting personnel to have records complete for required reporting

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of basic accounting principles

Strong organizational skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and good working knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling

Ability to maintain positive working relationships with staff, faculty and general public

Ability to protect confidential financial information

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

High degree of attention to detail


Minimum Requirements

Associate degree in Accounting or a Business-related field

Three years of accounting/bookkeeping experience or

An equivalent combination of education and experience


Preferences


Experience with financial reporting software
