Job Summary
The Accounts Receivable (AR) Accountant is responsible for managing incoming payments, properly tracking them into the accounting system, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role ensures timely collection of receivables, reconciles customer accounts, and supports overall cash flow management.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate and issue accurate customer invoices
- Post customer payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers, credit cards)
- Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure all payments are accounted for
- Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts
- Resolve billing discrepancies and customer payment issues
- Maintain accurate customer records and credit files
- Prepare monthly AR reports and assist with month-end closing
- Perform account reconciliations and journal entries
- Support audits by providing required documentation
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams regarding account status
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
