Accounts Receivable Clerk

About this role:
The Accounts Receivable Clerk provides accounting support to the Accounts Receivable and General Ledger areas of the Accounting Department. This is a great opportunity for college graduates!

Pay range, Status & Schedule:
This is a non-exempt position working Monday thru Friday 7:30 am to 4:15 pm with a .45 minute lunch, paying $20.00 per hour.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for collections of past due AR accounts
  • Interact with customers by answering phone calls, taking payment information and processing it efficiently and accurately.
  • Prepares, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions using the company software.
  • Prepares deposit batches and may either do a remote or physical bank deposits.
  • Prepares and balances the Cash Worksheet on a daily basis.
  • Researches and reconciles payments, customer discrepancies and past-due amounts.
  • Reconciles subsidiary accounts on a periodic basis.
  • Generates and sends out monthly billing statements to customers.
  • Copies, files, and retrieves materials for Accounts Receivable, as needed.
  • Relays information to appropriate employees and departments maintaining confidentiality of data, at all times.
  • Processes adjustments and credit memos.
  • Assists with month-end closing.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

What you'll need:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting, or relevant field.
  • Two years of Accounts Receivable experience preferred.
  • Ability to email customers with strong writing etiquette, verbal and communication skills
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping. Good knowledge of Accounts Receivable principles.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
  • Ability to deal with problems effectively and promptly and interact professionally with customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong team player willing to take on new tasks to help in other areas of the Accounting Dept., if needed.

Other requirements:
Incumbent must have reliable transportation.
