The Accounts Receivable and Insurance Billing Specialist is Responsible for monitoring and accurately accounting for payments received for services provided by Mission Advancement Department. Ensure the accurate invoicing of Iowa Medicaid and MCO’s for services provided and resolving discrepancies between reporting software and billing software systems.

Responsibilities:
Work with Mission Services staff to ensure services provided are appropriately documented prior to submitting claims to Iowa MCO’s monthly.
Tracking person served eligibility
Sorting, tracking, and entering MCO authorizations to ensure services are billable.
Submits invoices to MCO’s in the required format and within timeframes set by the funding sources.
Invoicing billings for IVR, SDVR, Yes Program, and 185th.
Works with the accounting department to monitor and manage the collection of accounts receivable outstanding greater than 60 days. Goodwill generally uses a ‘NET 30’ payment term.
Maintains detailed documentation of collection efforts on past due accounts.
Reviews claim payments and denials for services provided and works to determine cause of denial. Resubmit claims or files appeals as appropriate.
Proactively monitors rate changes and other requirements of the various funding sources to be able to submit invoices for payment.
Conducts month-end review of general ledger revenue reports for proper department and account distribution.
Daily data entry of all client claims, including paper claim filing
Review and process pdf scans of checks, payment denials, and EOBs
Creation of HCFAs to obtain third party reimbursement
Responds to client’s questions regarding billing statements
Responsible for accounts receivable (billing, write-offs, adjustments, etc.)
Apply all EFT insurance payments where the remit goes directly into Vertex for easy application of payment.
Apply paper checks that come in the mail
Pay close attention to payment details such as incorrect payment amounts and incorrect denials.
Responsible for secondary insurance claim submission after primary insurance payment has been applied.
Working insurance denials and recoups- research any recoups and incorrect denials.
Payment posting for all service provider claims
Review and reconcile Weekly Aging Report and clearinghouse
Create Log ins for all Insurance Websites to access posting and reconsideration portals
Maintain Grant Spreadsheets
Attend insurance company zoom meetings if applicable to role (Medicaid Town Halls, BCBS trainings on new tools on their portals, etc.)
Credentialing and re-credentialing all providers as needed by insurance companies
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or High School Graduate with completion of post-secondary course work with emphasis in accounting and/or bookkeeping required.
Previous experience with insurance billing for HCBS Programs and Vocational Rehabilitation Services or similar experience a plus.
Minimum of two years previous experience in related activity, strongly preferred.
Must pass acceptable criminal and dependent adult/child abuse background checks.
Ability to travel and participate in professional development, conferences, and training activities
Valid Driver’s license, and proof of insurance.
