Accounts Receivable Representative

Duties

  • Manage accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, payment processing, and account reconciliation using software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar financial tools
  • Conduct thorough analysis of customer accounts to identify discrepancies, overdue balances, or potential collection issues
  • Perform data entry with precision for journal entries, debits & credits, and account analysis to ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements
  • Follow up on overdue accounts through professional negotiation and effective phone etiquette to secure timely payments while maintaining excellent customer service standards
  • Reconcile accounts regularly to ensure accuracy in financial records and support audit readiness with detailed documentation of transactions
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to accounts receivable aging and revenue cycle management metrics
  • Collaborate with other departments such as Accounts Payable, Medical Billing, or Governmental Accounting to streamline processes and resolve discrepancies efficiently

Experience

  • Proven experience in accounts receivable functions within a corporate accounting or financial services environment
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or equivalent platforms; experience with medical collection systems is a plus
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation, and double-entry bookkeeping
  • Knowledge of industry-specific standards such as ICD-10 coding for medical billing or CPT coding for healthcare services is advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets using analysis skills and attention to detail for account analysis and reconciliation tasks
  • Experience working within SOX compliance frameworks and understanding of public accounting practices enhances your fit for this role
  • Excellent communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette enable effective negotiation and customer interactions
