Accounts Receivable Specialist (with AP & Payroll)

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and versatile Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our growing manufacturing team. This is not a "siloed" role; the ideal candidate will possess a strong foundational knowledge of the entire accounting cycle, including Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Financial Reporting. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of our revenue stream while supporting broader departmental functions to ensure the financial health of our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable (Primary Focus - 80%)

  • Manage full-cycle AR, including daily invoicing, payment application (ACH, Wire, Check), and credit memo processing.
  • Monitor AR aging reports and proactively conduct collection calls/emails to maintain low DSO (Days Sales Outstanding).
  • Research and resolve customer payment discrepancies, short-pays, and unapplied cash.
  • Evaluate and recommend credit limits for new and existing customers based on credit history.

Accounts Payable & Payroll Support (10%)

  • Perform "Three-Way Matching" (PO, Receiving Report, and Invoice) for manufacturing materials and supplies.
  • Assist in processing weekly/bi-weekly payroll for hourly shop employees and salaried staff, ensuring compliance with overtime and tax regulations.
  • Assist with vendor inquiries and weekly check runs as needed.

Financial Reporting & General Ledger (10%)

  • Prepare monthly AR aging, sales tax, and revenue recognition reports for management.
  • Assist in month-end closing procedures, including bank reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Support annual audits by providing requested documentation and schedules.

Skills & Experience

  • 5 years plus of progressive accounting experience. Experience in a Manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and the relationship between AR/AP and the General Ledger.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP software (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Sage, or Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).
