DEB Construction, certified as a Great Place to Work® is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Receivable Clerk/Accounts Payable Clerk to join our accounting department.
Accounts Receivable Position Summary
The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for managing the company’s incoming payments, preparing and processing invoices, tracking outstanding receivables, and supporting overall financial accuracy. Experience in construction accounting and progress billing is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and issue customer invoices, including progress billings
- Experience with AIA billing and retainage tracking strongly preferred
- Post customer payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers)
- Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances
- Coordinate with project managers regarding billing status and client communications
- Process lien waivers and support contract compliance documentation
- Assist with month-end closing procedures
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
- Provide support during audits as needed
Accounts Payable Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for managing vendor invoices, ensuring accurate coding and timely payments, and maintaining organized financial records. Experience in construction accounting, subcontractor pay applications, and lien waivers is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and process vendor and subcontractor invoices
- Match invoices to purchase orders and subcontract agreements
- Code invoices accurately to job cost accounts and general ledger
- Process weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments
- Track subcontractor compliance documents (W-9s, COIs, lien waivers)
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with month-end close procedures
- Maintain accurate and organized AP files
· Support audit requests as needed
Qualifications
- 3 years of accounts receivable/accounts payable experience (construction industry required)
· Proficiency in software (e.g., Spectrum or similar ERP systems, Procore, Textura)
- Strong Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and follow-up skills
Education
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
