Job Description
The Accountant will be responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, and supporting business operations across both the US and India. This role involves collaboration with multiple teams and reporting to the Finance Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and IFSB standards.
- Compile, maintain, and reconcile general ledger accounts for both US and Indian entities.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of GST returns, including reconciliation and proper documentation of GST transactions, TDS, and ITR filing for the Indian entity.
- File and review sales/use tax returns, and ensure compliance with the IRS Code and other relevant US financial regulations.
- Collaborate with executive, operational, and revenue teams to impact process improvement and data analytics.
- Assist in payroll processing, including deductions, benefits, and reconciliation according to applicable standards.
- Maintain and update fixed asset records and support budgeting processes in both jurisdictions.
- Support annual and quarterly audit processes, preparing required documentation and liaising with auditors.
- Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with international and local regulations.
- Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff when required, and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations, industry trends, and compliance requirements for USA GAAP, IFSB, and Indian GST.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably with exposure to US GAAP, IFSB, and Indian GST compliance.
- Advanced proficiency with accounting software (preferably major ERP systems like SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting, GST return filing, TDS, ITR, and account reconciliation.
- Solid understanding of financial reporting, tax compliance, and budgeting in multinational contexts.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
