Position Summary

The Volunteer Accountant supports Renewal Oasis by maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with nonprofit financial regulations, and assisting leadership with financial transparency and reporting. This role is essential to helping the organization steward its resources responsibly and maximize its community impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update financial records, including income, expenses, and donations
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for leadership and the board
• Assist with annual budgeting and financial planning
• Support grant tracking and restricted fund reporting
• Prepare documents for annual tax filings (e.g., Form 990)
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial policies and best practices
• Assist with audit preparation if applicable
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to strengthen sustainability

Qualifications

• Background in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
• Experience with nonprofit accounting (preferred but not required)
• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar platforms)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
