Job Summary

The Buyer/Purchaser supports the Materials Management department by coordinating purchasing activities, maintaining inventory systems, and ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. This role is responsible for processing procurement transactions, assisting with vendor relations, tracking supply levels, and supporting department efficiency through accurate and organized purchasing practices.
Essential Functions

Assist with procurement of supplies and equipment at the lowest cost consistent with quality and delivery requirements

Ensure accurate and timely entry of purchase orders, inventory adjustments, and vendor invoices

Manage periodic inventory processes and reconcile daily charge data

Support evaluation of vendor performance and assist in negotiating pricing and service contracts

Maintain compliance with organizational policies, JCAHO, OSHA, and state regulations for material purchases

Travel between facilities (e.g., Lander and Riverton campuses) as needed, with mileage reimbursement

Collaborate with department managers to ensure supply needs are met and inventory is maintained

Train and support staff on procurement programs and materials management procedures

Monitor inventory for cost savings opportunities and contract compliance

Assist in staffing activities, including interviews, training, and performance feedback under director supervision

Participate in process improvement initiatives and report outcomes to leadership

Maintain confidentiality and comply with all policies related to patient, employee, and facility information

Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and supply chain management systems (e.g., SMART)

Understanding of supply chain compliance, inventory control, and purchasing protocols

Qualifications
Education
-
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field preferred
Licenses/Certifications
Experience
-
Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of materials management or purchasing experience required

Supervisory experience in a healthcare materials management setting preferred
-
Knowledge of medical terminology and hospital procurement procedures beneficial
