We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Adapted Physical Education Teacher to join our educational team. Summary

As our Adapted PE Teacher, you’ll be the MVP of movement for students in our MSDE classrooms. You’ll design and deliver individualized and small-group physical education experiences tailored to students with autism, gross motor delays, and other physical impairments. Your mission: help students build strength, coordination, confidence, and joy through movement.

Instructional Support

  • Adapt techniques and materials to meet each student’s developmental level and physical ability.
  • Write, modify, and implement individualized education plans that align with student goals and Maryland APE standards.
  • Assess students’ motor skill development, monitor progress over time, and assign students to appropriate physical education programs based on individual needs.
  • Create engaging, inclusive, and goal-driven lesson plans that make movement fun and meaningful.
  • Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to support student success across all environments.

Professional Attributes

  • Familiarity with Maryland’s APE framework and elementary PE standards
  • Ability to teach community-based sports and recreation skills
  • Strong communication skills—both verbal and written
  • Strategic thinker with a knack for problem-solving
  • Ethical, organized, and always ready to lead with heart

Qualifications

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Physical Education, or a related field
  • Valid Maryland teaching license in Physical Education or eligibility to obtain licensure
  • Experience working with students with autism or other developmental delays preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student-centered instruction

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
