Job Description

HomeworkCoach is seeking a patient, engaging Academic & ADHD Coach for a bright and energetic 4th-grade student. The family has worked with multiple tutors in the past but is specifically looking for someone with true experience supporting children with ADHD—not just general tutoring experience.

The student is described as happy, kind, and high-energy, and can become easily distracted. The family is seeking a coach who can make learning fun and engaging while also knowing when to gently refocus and provide structure. They are hoping to work with someone long-term, including continued support over the summer to reinforce 4th grade skills.

This role blends academic support with ADHD-informed coaching for younger learners. Success in this role means balancing patience, creativity, and structure to help the student stay engaged, build confidence, and strengthen core academic skills.

Responsibilities

  • ADHD-Informed Support: Use strategies tailored to high-energy, distractible learners to maintain focus and engagement.
  • Math Support: Reinforce multiplication facts, math fluency, and foundational problem-solving skills.
  • Reading & Writing Support: Support reading comprehension and help organize thoughts for writing tasks.
  • Engaging Instruction: Make sessions fun, interactive, and motivating while maintaining clear expectations.
  • Structure & Redirection: Know when to let energy flow and when to gently rein it in to stay on task.
  • Consistency & Retention: Help the student retain academic skills over the summer and beyond.
  • Communication: Provide ongoing feedback and progress updates to the family.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children with ADHD is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with elementary math, reading, and writing instruction.
  • Ability to balance warmth, patience, structure, and clear boundaries.
  • Reliable transportation and strong communication skills.

  • $40/hour pay
  • Long-term placement potential
  • Simple onboarding and minimal paperwork
  • Bi-monthly pay via online time reporting
  • Training and structured materials provided
  • Supportive, easy-to-work-with team
