Position Summary:
The Administrative & Event Assistant plays a key role in furthering the Mission’s commitment to excellence in service and Christlike compassion. This position supports the Development & Community Engagement Department’s objectives and reflects our values in every interaction. This position provides administrative support to the VP of Advancement & Director of Events and Donor Engagement, and the legacy-giving program by handling a variety of administrative, clerical, and organizational tasks, enabling the department to operate effectively and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Executive & Office Support – Provide daily administrative support by preparing materials, overseeing office organization, and scheduling meetings and AV setup.
  • Event Coordination – Provide administrative support for donor engagement events, including logistics, RSVPs, day-of-event materials, and on-site assistance at events.
  • Communications & Materials – Design flyers, invitations, and promotional pieces to support events, campaigns, and donor outreach.
  • Data & Donor Management – Maintain accurate donor records in the CRM, generate reports, support donor communications, and assist with estate planning and legacy giving initiatives.

Education:
  • Minimum: High school diploma with at least 4 years of relevant administrative experience.
  • Preferred: Associate's or bachelor’s degree in administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
Experience:
  • 2–4 years administrative experience; event, nonprofit, or development support preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to function effectively in a dynamic, faith-based environment
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Content Creation Tools, and CRM systems (e.g., Canva, Virtuous)
  • Discreet, professional, and attentive to detail—especially with donor data
  • Friendly, proactive, and mission-driven with a customer service mindset
  • Able to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment


Work Environment and Physical Demands


  • This role may require walking, standing, lifting up to 25 lbs., and working irregular hours, including evenings or weekends.

  • Environment includes residential program sites and client-facing spaces.

Drug Screen Disclaimer

SDRM is a Nonprofit Religious Organization and as such, we require all employees to submit to our drug screen as a condition of employment once they have accepted a position with SDRM. Because of our religious affiliation, we do not allow employees to use or consume recreational or medicinal marijuana, along with all other federally recognized substances. You will be notified prior to any employment decisions if your drug screen is returned with negative findings. Refusal to submit to testing will result in disqualification of further employment consideration.

San Diego Rescue Mission participates in E-Verify. We will provide the Social Security Administration, and if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security, with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
