Administrative and Fundraising Support Summer Student

About True North Aid:
True North Aid is a Canadian registered charity dedicated to providing practical humanitarian aid to northern and remote Indigenous communities across Canada.

Position Summary:
True North Aid is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented summer student to support our administrative, fundraising, and communications activities. This role will contribute to the organization’s day-to-day operations, donor engagement, and social media presence. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in the charity sector, including digital communications, donor relations, and organizational administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support
  • Assist with general administrative tasks, including data entry and document management within Google Workspace
  • Maintain accurate records in donor and program databases
  • Support scheduling, meeting coordination, and preparation of materials

Fundraising & Donor Relations

  • Support the preparation and distribution of donor communications, including thank-you letters and emails
  • Assist in maintaining and updating donor records
  • Help coordinate fundraising campaigns and initiatives
  • Conduct research on potential donors, partners, and funding opportunities

Communications & Social Media Support

  • Assist in drafting and scheduling content for social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
  • Support the creation of content for newsletters and digital campaigns
  • Help coordinate campaign timelines and content calendars
  • Monitor engagement and assist with basic reporting on social media performance
  • Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across platforms

Qualifications

  • Eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs program (as per federal criteria)
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program (preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar)
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Interest in non-profit work, fundraising, or communications

Assets

  • Experience with social media platforms and content creation
  • Familiarity with donor databases or CRM systems
  • Understanding of or interest in Indigenous communities (lived experience is an asset)

Eligibility Requirements (Canada Summer Jobs Program):

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment period*
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada
