Counseling Center of West Michigan is home to a diverse group of therapists, psychologists, and psychiatric providers who share one common goal: to serve our community by supporting the mental and emotional health of everyone who walks through our doors.

About the Position

Our administrative assistants are responsible for supporting our providers and patients at each of our West Michigan locations. Responsibilities include:

  • Checking in patients for therapy and psychiatry appointments
  • Answering phones and emails (generally for rescheduling, document requests, etc.)
  • Maintaining office organization and tidiness.
  • Helping providers schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments
  • Other department duties; this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. The employee may perform other related duties as assigned by their supervisor.

Must have excellent phone presence, exceptional customer service skills and basic computer skills. Ability to understand the importance of HIPAA laws and abide by them.

Available Positions

  • Kentwood Campus: Tuesday & Thursday from 3:30 PM - 8 PM

*Can pick up additional shifts outside of scheduled hours when desired, we reimburse for mileage when doing so

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills including active listening.
  • Strong and clear writing/typing skills, including proper spelling and grammar
  • Service-oriented and able to resolve patient grievances with empathy and understanding.
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn and navigate new software.
  • Ability to work well with co-workers
  • Ability to accept and apply feedback
  • Ability to work independently
  • Regular and predictable attendance: In person work required for regular face to face collaboration with co-workers and supervisor.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of customer service experience required, medical setting preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour
