We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and motivated Administrative Assistant / Direct Support Professional to join our team. This hybrid role combines hands-on client care with essential administrative and compliance support within the agency.
Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant / Direct Support Professional provides direct care services to clients while also supporting the daily administrative operations of the agency. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both working directly with individuals and contributing to the smooth functioning of an organized, compliant healthcare environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Direct Care Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals according to dietary plans
- Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate medication records
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Support clients with community integration and daily routines
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment
- Document services provided in accordance with agency and state requirements
Administrative & Clerical Duties
- Assist with staff scheduling and shift coordination
- Maintain client and employee files (electronic and paper)
- Process new hire onboarding documentation
- Support HR functions including background checks, credential tracking, and personnel compliance
- Assist with internal audits and compliance reviews
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory standards
- Answer phones and provide professional communication with families, staff, and external partners
- Support billing documentation preparation as needed
- Assist leadership with general administrative tasks
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required (Associate’s or higher preferred)
- Previous home health, DSP, or caregiving experience required
- Experience in administrative or clerical work required
- Medication administration certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, email, electronic record systems)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor
Physical Requirements
- Ability to assist clients with mobility and personal care tasks
- Ability to lift, transfer, and support clients as needed
- Ability to sit, stand, and move between administrative and care environments
