Administrative Assistant - Elementary School

Title: Administrative Assistant Elementary School - 12 Month PositionReports To: Building PrincipalSupervised By: Building Principal and/or other appropriate personnel as directed by the PrincipalJob Goal: To ensure the smooth, efficient, and welcoming operation of the elementary school main office. This role provides essential administrative support to the Principal, staff, students, and families while maintaining a safe, organized, and student-centered environment.Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (Associates degree or higher preferred).Prior experience in an administrative or clerical role, preferably within an educational or school setting.Proficiency in office software (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office) and experience with Student Information Systems (SchoolBrains, PowerSchool, etc.).Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment.Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding student, family, and staff information.Performance Responsibilities: Office Management & Reception: Serve as the primary point of contact for the main office; greet and direct visitors, students, and staff; answer and route phone calls appropriately.Attendance Tracking: Monitor and record daily student attendance, including tardies, early dismissals, and absences, ensuring accurate data entry into the student information system.Principal Support: Assist the Principal with daily administrative tasks, schedule management, meeting coordination, and the preparation of reports or presentations.Communications: Draft, format, and distribute daily announcements, school-wide communications, newsletters, and general correspondence.Record Keeping: Maintain and update accurate, confidential student records, cum files, and staff databases in compliance with district policies and state regulations.Operations & Purchasing: Process purchase orders, track office and classroom supply inventories, and order materials as directed.Substitute Coordination: Assist with the daily coordination of substitute teachers, providing them with necessary keys, schedules, workslip, and classroom information upon arrival.Student Support: Triage minor student needs and ensure a safe waiting area for students in the main office.General Duties: Perform any other administrative duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Building Principal to support the school's mission.Terms of Employment: As per the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between the East Bridgewater School Committee and the East Bridgewater Education Association Administrative Assistants and the policy of the East Bridgewater School Committee.
