PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Ensure the efficient operation of the Board of Trustees and provide clerical services to the Board of Trustees and to the Superintendent. Work under general supervision of the Superintendent. Handle confidential information and frequent contact with all levels of district employees, outside agencies, and the general public.
QUALIFICATIONS:
In accordance with Texas Election Code, this person must be a qualified voter of Harris County.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
High school diploma or GED, some college preferred but not required
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE SKILLS
Proficient skills in keyboarding, word processing, and file maintenance
Knowledge of school district organization, operations, and administrative policies
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to operate a computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word processing
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Three years or more of advanced secretarial experience emphasizing public relations
Prefer prior experience in executive office of public school district
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Prepare and post official Board agenda and records.

Record minutes of executive staff and Board meetings as required.

Collect, organize, copy, and bind materials for Board meetings and distribute to Board members.

Type all correspondence, memoranda, and reports for Board of Trustees.

Compile information and prepare reports as needed.

Distribute Board material to administrators, principals, and appropriate leadership.

Coordinate required training for Board of Trustees.

Organize and maintain Board Policies.

Conduct and organize all elections.

Assist Harris County election officials with the organization of the general election.

Schedule appointments and maintain Board's calendar.

Greet visitors and respond to routine inquiries from staff and public; refer appropriate inquiries or problems to Superintendent.

Answer incoming calls and handle questions from public, outside agencies, Board of Trustees, and staff.

Organize and manage routing work activities of the Board of Trustees.

Maintain physical and computerized files, including Board minutes and closed session records.

Assist with travel arrangements for Board members as needed, including making hotel reservations, air flight schedules, and conference registrations.

Review and distribute mail addressed to Board of Trustees.

Assist the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent .

Assist the Communications Department.

Maintain confidentiality of information.

Maintain historical information regarding the school district.

Coordinate refreshments for Board meetings and other Board functions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Assist with coordination of district celebrations and professional development as needed.

- Salary is commensurate with experience
- Minimum Salary $43,012
- Works 226-day Contract
