Administrative Assistant/Medical Biller

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant/Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. This vital role combines administrative support with medical billing responsibilities, ensuring smooth clinic operations and accurate reimbursement processes. You will be the backbone of our office, managing patient records, coding procedures, and handling insurance claims with precision and professionalism. This is a slow-paced, low-stress environment that requires attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently.

There will be a 3 month training period, after which pay will be increased and transitioned to a salaried position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient appointments, scheduling, and medical records to ensure organized and accessible documentation
  • Perform medical coding using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes for accurate billing and record-keeping
  • Review and process medical claims, ensuring proper submission through EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
  • Follow up on unpaid claims, handle denials, and perform collections to optimize revenue cycle management
  • Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and authorizations to facilitate smooth billing processes
  • Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations by understanding DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications and other coding standards
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, answering phone calls, and coordinating correspondence

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a medical office environment with familiarity in medical billing and administrative duties
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards
  • Proficiency in medical coding including CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), and DRG classifications
  • Experience with EMR/EHR systems for charting, billing, and claims processing
  • Ability to perform accurate medical collection activities and follow-up on unpaid accounts
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in coding and billing procedures
  • Knowledge of insurance verification processes, benefits management, and authorization procedures
  • Must be available Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
