The Administrative Associate provides critical administrative and clerical support to the Tooele County Solid Waste Division. This role plays a key role in supporting daily operations, public service delivery, compliance documentation, and office management. As well as contributes to the efficient and effective administration of solid waste collection, disposal, recycling, and environmental programs.
This is an entry-level administrative role that performs routine clerical tasks in a structured office environment. Work is conducted under close to moderate supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Answer and direct incoming calls; assist residents with general service inquiries (e.g., collection schedules, container requests).
- File and maintain service records, operational logs, and correspondence.
- Enter data into waste tracking or billing systems with accuracy.
- Process incoming mail and assist in preparing routine communications.
- Schedule appointments for field inspections or container delivery.
- Operate office equipment and manage office supply inventory.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
0-1 year of administrative or clerical experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and municipal database systems.
- Strong communication skills; able to engage effectively with residents, staff, and vendors.
- Knowledge of solid waste operations, recycling programs, and regulatory terminology preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
- Familiarity with government procedures, budgeting, and records management.
Work Environment- Primarily office-based with occasional field coordination or support at community events.
- Regular interaction with the public, vendors, and Solid Waste personnel.
- Standard weekday schedule with occasional overtime during peak operational periods or emergencies.
