Danville Community College developed from two institutions, Danville Technical Institute and the Danville Division of Virginia Polytechnic Institute opened in 1936 as Danville Textile School, becoming Danville Technical Institute just after World War II. The Danville Division of Virginia Polytechnic Institute first began as an engineering division in 1946 and was later expanded to include the first two years of course work for all engineering, business administration, liberal arts, and science majors. Beginning in the summer of 1966, all programs taught by Danville Technical Institute were brought under the Virginia Department of Community Colleges. Effective July 1, 1968, the Danville Division of Virginia Polytechnic Institute merged with the existing community college providing the comprehensive programs now offered.
This Administrative Coordinator for Instructional Programs will oversee and work in conjunction with Division Academic Deans and base school leadership, as well as full-time lead faculty, adjuncts, and dual enrollment faculty to coordinate dual enrollment and adjunct course observations and facility compliance. This role will be responsible for assisting the deans with scheduling and tracking evaluations. This position will be responsible for managing and maintaining faculty qualifications files, ensuring completeness and accuracy. This role will assist faculty with assessment coordination, ensuring they meet deadlines and report accurate data.
The Administrative Coordinator for Instructional Programs will work in conjunction with Division Administrative Assistants to ensure compliance related to purchasing, event planning, and all other deadlines associated with Division and institutional needs. This position will work directly with division deans and the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Services on strategic scheduling initiatives, faculty overloads, course cancellations, credit for prior learning, and other division efforts.
The position will also support the divisions with hiring initiatives and processes, represent programs at various outreach events, assist with Public Relations and Marketing efforts associated with the various programs and divisions, and coordinate with Enrollment Services, Advising Services, and Division Academic Deans on specific tasks assigned. Additionally, the Administrative Coordinator will in collect, maintain, and report data in an accurate and timely manner. The Administrative coordinator will be expected to attend and provide support for on and off-campus activities and college events.
This role requires the ability to work in a dynamic student environment and with a diverse student and faculty population. The Administrative coordinator must have the ability to exercise discretion and use sound judgment in the decision-making process. The Administrative Coordinator for Instructional Programs will provide support to the Division Academic Deans and Vice President of Academic Affairs & Student Services as needed on special projects and other duties as assigned.
