The Admission Desk Cashier I / Birthday Presenter Hybrid supports front desk operations and birthday party programming in a fast-paced children’s museum environment. This role is responsible for providing excellent customer service to museum guests while assisting with admissions, retail operations, and birthday party experiences based on museum scheduling needs.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a high-energy environment, enjoy working with children and families, and maintain a friendly, professional, and mission-oriented attitude. This position will primarily support front desk and cashier operations, while also assisting with birthday party operations on select weekends and special event days.
Serve as a point person for the museum’s front-end operations.
Handle admissions, memberships, retail, and other financial transactions.
Welcome and direct visitors in person and by telephone while answering guest inquiries.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized front desk and reception area.
Maintain knowledge of museum exhibits, follow daily checklists, and adhere to museum policies.
Operate POS systems, cash registers, and additional transaction equipment.
Learn and communicate information regarding museum programs, exhibits, memberships, and services.
Sell memberships, birthday experiences, and retail merchandise
Record and reconcile daily statistics and financial information for front desk and gift shop operations.
Assist with keeping tour groups and birthday parties on schedule
Support birthday party operations including setup, cleanup, check-in, assisting with activities, food service support, and guest engagement.
Serve as a mentor When working with teen intern staff.
Collaborate with team members to ensure a positive visitor and party experience.
Assist with museum programming, store inventory, and additional operational needs as assigned.
High School diploma or GED required.
0–1+ years of cashier, guest service, or customer service experience preferred.
Experience working with children and families preferred.
Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Ability to work professionally in a fast-paced environment with large groups and families.
Detail-oriented with strong cash-handling abilities.
Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and remain standing for extended periods.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including Fridays, weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.
