Position: Admissions & Program Assistant of National Midwifery Institute (NMI)
Primary Responsibility: Admissions & Program Assistant provides administrative support across several functional areas of NMI. Responsibilities may shift or expand over time in response to program growth, strategic priorities, and evolving institutional needs.
This role helps maintain organized systems, supports timely communication with prospective students, students, and graduates. Further this role assists with regulatory and administrative tasks to ensure a smooth workflow across NMI.
This position works collaboratively with and is directed by academic, administrative, admissions and operations leadership.
Hours & Job Location: 20 hours per week (with possibility to increase), remote
Position Type: 1099-NEC Independent Contractor
Pay: $24/hour

Our mission is to provide exceptional decentralized, apprenticeship-based direct-entry midwifery education. Our program prepares aspiring midwives to provide comprehensive midwifery care while studying in their own communities and fully in touch with the individuals and families they serve, to assure that the choice of sensitive, competent midwifery care may be more readily available to birthing people and their families everywhere.

Scope of Work
The Admissions & Program Assistant provides coordination and administrative support in the following areas:
- Admissions Support
- Academic Support
- Administrative Support
Admissions Support
- Support implementation of strategy for engaging and communicating with prospective students
- Respond to prospective student inquiries using established communication templates
- Conduct Discovery Calls with applications using established program talking points, as assigned
- Conduct initial administrative review of application prior to Director-level substantive review
- Track applicant progression through the admissions process and notify their supervisor of any problems or delays
- Refer applicants to their supervisor when additional consultation is needed
Academic Support
- Monitor academic workflow systems and flag delays or issues for academic leadership
- Support guest speaker coordination and scheduling
- Assist with coordination of tutoring program logistics
- Update program resource materials, as directed
- Assist with identifying students who could benefit from more targeted outreach
- Maintain withdrawal/dismissal tracking documentation for student academic file
Administrative Support
- As needed, assist the team in preparing related documentation for accreditation reports and regulatory compliance
- Assist with establishment and maintenance of student records
- Assist with processing student administrative forms
- Support institutional communications, such as website maintenance, email campaigns
- Assist with establishment and maintenance of alumni tracking and outreach
- Assist with processing student billing, payments, and collections
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong organizational, coordination, and workflow management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks independently
- Strong, current computer literacy skills
- Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with community midwifery, birth, and perinatal care in the US
- Familiarity with NARM’s requirements for the CPM Credential
- Education, certification, or experience in marketing, customer service, public relations, communications, or related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed:
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Experience with working in Google Workspace
- Experience with website design and maintenance in Squarespace
- Experience with marketing, public relations, communications, or related field
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, restorative justice, and continuous professional development.

- Deep commitment to expanding access to and improving the experience of midwifery education to expand access to community based midwifery care in the United States
