Adoption Caseworker/Counselor/Social Worker (Eastern Michigan)

Overview
We are looking for a part-time contractual Adoption Caseworker/Counselor/Social Worker to work in the Eastern Michigan area. Applicants should reside in an Eastern Michigan area such as Wayne County, Oakland County, Macomb County, Washtenaw County, Genessee County, Livingston County, Lapeer County and surrounding areas. The office for this position is in Farmington Hills, but an employee in this position works from their home office. Cases are assigned based on the desire of the worker and the intake of clients. The number of hours varies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of prospective adoptive families to determine eligibility for adoption.
  • Complete home studies, post placement reports and other associated tasks.
  • Provide counseling and emotional support to adoptive families throughout the child placement process.
  • Educate families about adoption procedures, child care best practices, and available resources to promote healthy family dynamics.
  • This position requires the employee to travel to meet with clients in the Eastern Michigan area.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related Behavioral Science field.
  • Must be flexible in scheduling appointments with adoptive families.
  • Must be empathetic, compassionate and caring.
  • Must have excellent report writing and organizational skills.
  • Must have good computer skills and a good working knowledge of common software applications including Google Docs.

Experience

  • Experience in the social work/counseling/behavioral sciences field is desired.
  • Interpersonal experience building trust with clients is desired.
  • Previous experience working in the adoption field is beneficial, but not required.

Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
