The Julia L. Butterfield Memorial Library has been a vital community hub and an essential provider of books, information, ideas, and education since 1925. We are seeking a creative, energetic individual with excellent organizational skills and a passion for libraries to join our team in the role of Adult Programming Coordinator. This position is responsible for planning, marketing, and facilitating programs for adults that drive engagement, as well as supporting the promotion of all library services and activities throughout the community.
Essential Duties:
- Research, implement and manage a schedule of regular adult programs and special events that anticipate and respond to community needs and desires, with a particular emphasis on environmental and community sustainability
- Create a wide variety of promotional materials, including capsule descriptions of events and eNewsletter content
- Market programs through a variety of channels, including local news outlets and cooperative advertising
- Develop and maintain content for social media platforms such as Library blogs, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest
- Cultivate and maintain community relationships that increase and diversify the use of adult programs
- Maintain and grow knowledge of new technology and trends in adult literature, educational and development needs, adult services and the profession through webinars, internal training, meetings, conferences, professional literature and organizational memberships
- Research and write grants, and implement library grant initiatives
- Assess program success through surveys and attendance tracking. Provide a monthly statistical report to Library Director
- Maintain adult programming budget, accurately recording and reporting all expenditures while effecting optimal value
- Increase skills and knowledge through professional reading, webinars, and workshops
- Regular duties that include: staffing circulation desks as coverage demands; providing customer service, assistance and instruction to library patrons; interpreting library rules, policies, and procedures to the public
- Other special projects and duties as assigned by the Library Director in support of the library’s mission

- Independently plan, organize and coordinate work on multiple projects simultaneously, exhibiting strong attention to detail
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills with patrons and staff
- Engage diverse community partners, patrons and staff in positive and productive relationships
- Work a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and every other weekend
- Possess solid technical skills, particularly with Mac products, Gmail, Google Drive, and social media platforms. Familiarity with Constant Contact and Canva a plus.
- Spanish speaking a plus

Part-Time: 20 - 25 hours per week; some evenings and weekends required
Pay Rate: Hourly starting at $20, negotiable commensurate with experience
