Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday 9am-6pm, rotating weekends, at least one evening per week..

The City of Greensboro Public Libraries, McGirt-Horton Branch, is seeking a dynamic and service-oriented Adult Services Librarian to join our team. About the Role:
The Adult Services Librarian will play a crucial role in delivering reference services, designing engaging adult programs, conducting needs assessments, and leading outreach efforts. This position requires strong communication skills, a passion for lifelong learning, and a commitment to serving a multicultural community. Responsibilities include:
  • Providing reference and general information services in person, over the phone, and via email
  • Developing and executing innovative programming for adults
  • Engaging in community outreach and fostering partnerships with local organizations
  • Assisting with circulation, reader’s advisory, and collection development
  • Collaborating with library staff and community stakeholders to enhance services
  • Assisting in the operation of the branch in the manager’s absence
  • Ensuring efficient and courteous service delivery to all patrons

Qualifications

What You Bring:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution “OR” a Master’s Degree in a related field or the Ability to obtain within 6 mounths of hire, with 1-3 years of experience with the specialty focus area (Adult Services and Reference)
  • 1-3 years of experience in adult services and reference
  • 1-3 years of programming experience in a library setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using library ILS systems (e.g., Horizon)
  • 3 years of programming experience in a public library setting
  • Experience working with teens and emerging adults
