Advanced Computational Solid Dynamics Analyst

Position Description Summary

A-P-T Research, Inc. is seeking an experienced Advanced Computational Solid Dynamics Analyst with expertise in High-Fidelity Physics-Based (HFPB) numerical modeling and simulation of blast environments and extreme dynamic loading events in Huntsville, AL or Remote. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in Computational Solid Dynamics (CSD) analysis, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles, numerical methods, and software tools. Required Experience/Education
:

  • Master's degree in mathematics, Engineering, or an equivalent Physical Science.
  • Seven years of experience with HFPB numerical modeling for prediction of blast environments and for simulation of structural response to blast loads and other extreme dynamic loading events. The experience can include simulations using Computational Solid Dynamic (CSD).
  • Seven years of experience using first principles, engineering theory, and test data to verify and validate models developed with HFPB numerical tools.
  • Applicable experience shall demonstrate the capability to build confidence in analysis solutions and to communicate accuracy of models with substantiating evidence.
  • Seven years of experience using HFPB software tool. These software tools can include, but are not limited to ALE3D, LS-DYNA, Sierra Mechanics, EPIC, Abaqus/Explicit, or other equivalent codes.


Security Clearance Requirement:

  • Secret level clearance

  • Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, management, and customers


Travel Requirements
:

  • Requires ability to travel domestically (within the U.S.) <10%


Physical Requirements
:

  • Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a workstation / desk
  • Ability to lift >15 lbs.


Other Essential Functions:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgement
  • Work attire must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk / hazard to the employee or others
