ROOS STUDIOS

Our music school teaches piano, guitar, voice, ukulele, bass, drums, violin, viola, cello, music theory and music production (Logic and Ableton) to age 5 beginners up to advanced adults. We are currently seeking ADVANCED PIANO, GUITAR AND VOICE INSTRUCTORS to inspire and nurture musical talent across diverse age groups and abilities. Candidates who have a music degree or pursuing a degree in music are preferred. Teaching shifts are normally from 3pm to 7/7:30pm and can start as early as noon depending on student demand. We are open Monday to Friday for 44 weeks out of the year and closed weekends.

In this role, you will design engaging lessons that foster creativity, technical skills, and confidence in students. Your enthusiasm for music education will energize our vibrant community, while making a meaningful impact to the future generation of musicians! Local Candidates who can commit to at least 2 years will be given preference. There are no remote opportunities available. This position is onsite only at our 4 security-monitored locations:

COSTA MESA - 2900 Bristol St #B107, Costa Mesa, CA 92626 (near the LAB and CAMP, across Americas Tires)

CARLSBAD - 6108 Avenida Encinas #B, Carlsbad, CA 92011 (near Carlsbad Outlets off the Palomar Airport Exit & the 5 fwy)

MISSION VIEJO - 26342 Oso Pkwy. Suites 203 & 202, Mission Viejo, CA 92691 (on top of Starbucks at the Oso exit & the 5 fwy)

SAN CLEMENTE - 1044 Calle Recodo #B, San Clemente, CA 92673 (between San Clemente Christian School and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu off the Avenida Pico exit & the 5 fwy)

We are consistently on the lookout for highly competent Instructors to join us even in a substitute teacher capacity. Even if we are not in need of a particular type of Instructor at the moment, we likely will be soon since we are always aiming to grow. We keep all prospective teacher information on file and refer to it first. Many of our instructors have first started as a Substitute Teacher before becoming a team member. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop comprehensive lesson plans tailored to individual student goals, skill levels, and learning styles while maintaining a positive atmosphere conducive to learning.
• Deliver engaging, energetic classes that motivate students to explore their musical potential and improve their technique.
• Manage learning environments effectively by implementing behavior management strategies and incorporate diverse teaching techniques for the little ones.
• Provide constructive feedback to students on their progress, encouraging growth and perseverance in their musical journey.
• Incorporate diverse teaching techniques such as curriculum development, classroom management, and tutoring to enhance student engagement.
• Organize performance opportunities and assist with recital preparations to showcase student achievements.
• Collaborate with parents, guardians, or adult learners to set realistic goals and track progress at every lesson on the teacher portal.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Music Degree preferred.
• Proven experience in teaching advanced guitar such as a lead lines (not just rhythm guitar) and voice with a background in curriculum development and lesson planning.
• Ability to manage student expectations effectively while fostering a supportive learning environment.
• Experience working with children, adolescents, or adult learners across various skill levels.
• Knowledge of childhood development principles, special education needs, and behavior management strategies.
• Skills in other instruments are a plus for integrating interdisciplinary approaches into lessons.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate students of all ages and backgrounds.

Your students can follow a classical curriculum by Henle Verlag and Schirmer publishing, or browse through our fun selections of Pop Chart Hits, Best of John Williams and more. They can get inspired by the collection of Broadway Musicals compilations, Sound of Music Song Collections, Harry Styles Songs on Piano, Adele, and the list goes on. Our front desk staff will assist you in all customer purchases. Students can grab a book on the spot and start learning their favorite song asap!

4. YOUR TIME IS RESPECTED AND YOU ARE PAID WHEN STUDENTS CANCEL LATE

Our teachers are still paid teacher rate for same day cancellations since they are required to send out an assignment through the student portal.

5. NO HAVING TO COME IN FOR EXTRA MAKEUP LESSONS

Make-ups generally occur within your regular teaching schedule. This means - no makeups on random days and times or weekends. We work as a team and do makeup lessons for each other's students.

6. STUDENT PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

Performance Opportunities are offered quarterly at our in-house Recital Hall in Carlsbad that hosts a full stage, sound system and 9ft Yamaha CF Concert Grand Piano. We offer a more intimate live showcase at our Mission Viejo location that has a wonderful city view and a nearly 8ft Yamaha C7 Grand Piano.

At ROOS, teacher privacy is a high priority. Our teachers only communicate with students during work shifts and only through the student scheduling portal. This means - no texts over the weekends from parents asking about their kids' assignments, asking why their kids aren't practicing, or when the next recital is. We try to make our teachers' jobs easy and provide the support you need. Our Staff will refer to your teacher lesson notes to assist parents during off times.
