Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Advanced Practice Nurse specializing as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including mental status examinations, medication reviews, and risk assessments for patients of all ages, including children and geriatrics.
- Develop, implement, and adjust personalized treatment plans incorporating psychotherapy, medication management, and other evidence-based interventions.
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as ICaNotes to document assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately.
- Provide telehealth services to expand access to mental health care in various settings.
- Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, medication administration—including injections—and self-care strategies to promote recovery and resilience.
- Assist in discharge planning for hospitalized patients with acute psychiatric needs or complex comorbidities such as substance use or chronic illnesses like dialysis or cardiology issues.
- Engage in quality improvement activities aligned with NCQA standards to enhance patient safety and care quality.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
- Valid state licensure and certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with prescriptive authority.
- Proven experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those in assisted living or nursing home settings.
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health conditions such as depression, anxiety, dementia care—including Alzheimer's—and trauma-related disorders.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for documentation purposes.
- Experience with medication management including psychopharmacology and injections; knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes is advantageous.
- Ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments related to mental health diagnoses.
- Skills in crisis intervention, triage procedures, acute pain management, sedation protocols like dermal fillers or esthetic laser treatments are a plus.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times.
- Critical care experience such as ICU or emergency room exposure is preferred; familiarity with hospital medicine or Level I Trauma Center protocols is beneficial.
