Position Summary
Palo Verde Hematology/Oncology is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a hematology/oncology setting. This role involves comprehensive patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing care management while collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
The ideal candidate is committed to clinical excellence, continuous improvement, and delivering culturally competent care in a collaborative and supportive environment.
This particular role would have both in clinic and hospital rounding responsibilities.

Perform comprehensive patient assessments (physical, psychosocial, and spiritual)

Diagnose and manage acute and chronic hematologic and oncologic conditions

Develop and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with physicians

Order and interpret diagnostic tests; communicate results to patients and families

Prescribe and manage medications, including controlled substances, in compliance with regulations

Provide advanced patient care management for assigned caseload
-
Perform procedures and treatments within scope of practice

Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly
-
Provide patient education, including medication and treatment counseling
-
Ensure timely follow-up on diagnostic results and patient communications

Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals
-
Provide direction and supervision to support staff as needed
-
Serve as a clinical resource, consultant, and role model for healthcare team members
-
Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and coordination
-
Promote effective communication and teamwork across the practice
-
Deliver cost-effective care through efficient use of time, materials, and resources
-
Adhere to all Palo Verde policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
-
Follow infection control and chemotherapy safety guidelines
-
Maintain patient confidentiality in all forms of communication
-
Utilize evidence-based practice and current research to inform care delivery

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives

Maintain current licensure, certifications, and DEA registration
-
Complete required continuing education, including pharmacology hours
-
Engage in ongoing professional development and training
-
Participate in professional organizations and networking opportunities
-
Support mentoring, coaching, and education within the practice
-
Deliver culturally competent and inclusive care

Respect and support the diverse values, beliefs, and backgrounds of patients and families

Provide education in a manner that is culturally appropriate and accessible

Advocate for patients and ensure ethical decision-making in all aspects of care
Requirements:
Education & Experience: Hematology/Oncology Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP)

Master of Science in Nursing or equivalent PA program degree
-
Current valid state medical license
-
DEA/DPS license
-
Previous Hematology/Oncology experience a plus but, not required.

Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

Ability to work with others and demonstrate leadership qualities
