GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Advanced Practice Provider will provide compassionate and excellent patient care by performing courteous, efficient, and accurate service. Assess, plan, and provide care independently with a collaborative physician on call at all times. Examine and treat urgent care and occupational medicine patients to ensure proper injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Prescribe and administer medication, perform routine vaccinations, and provide advice regarding personal health. Request necessary tests and follow-up visits and refer patients to specialists as necessary. Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures set forth by Cardinal Urgent Care, government agencies, and occupational health clients.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess, plan and treat patient needs within an urgent care setting and triage patients to differentiate between immediate and less urgent care.
Assess, plan, and treat patients independently.
Effectively manage private, pre-employment, and workers compensation patients.
Order labs, tests, injections, imaging, and referrals.
Prescribe appropriate medications.
Administer medications in the facility as needed.
Perform minor bedside procedures such as laceration repair, incision and drainage, nail trephination, knee arthrocentesis, foreign body removal, splinting, in-grown nail removal, digital blocks, local anesthesia, IV insertion, and x-rays
Reduce very minor dislocations such as that of a finger.
Order and interpret testing including point of care testing, EKG, x-ray, and other laboratory tests and outpatient imaging as needed.
Consult with other medical providers as needed.
Take patient histories and vital signs as necessary.
Communicate patient needs, diagnosis, and course of treatment to the patient and clinical staff.
Instruct and educate patients about discharge instructions.
Create an individualized plan of care based on physical, psychosocial, and age specific assessments of the patient.
Delegate work to other caregivers and ensure accuracy of delegated work.
Maintain an adequate patient flow on-site by directing and assisting clinical staff.
Maintain quality assurance of charts and testing.
Handle telephone calls about services rendered from company accounts, patients, providers, as well as other staff.
Provide accurate and timely documentation.
Serve as a resource person for other clinical staff.
All other duties assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Successfully graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
Must have current board certification (Nurse Practitioners must be board certified in Family, Emergency, or Acute/Adult Care with a Pediatric Certification).
Must possess a current license to practice medicine in NC.
Knowledge of advanced medical terminology.
Knowledge of urgent and occupational medication.
Ability to perform bedside procedures.
Ability to use the necessary equipment such as the nebulizer, EKG machine, x-ray machine etc.
An exceptional communicator, orally and written.
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively and courteously deal with patients and families, clients, coworkers, clinical staff and physicians.
Organizational and analytical skills necessary to maintain efficient workflow.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Ability to adjust responsibilities to accommodate a fast-paced work environment while maintaining excellent customer service and staff interactions.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Staff within this position work in an indoor environment with exposure to patients with infectious disease, noise, fumes, and/or other distractions. Occasional heavy lifting will be required.
