Responsibilities
- Care for a variety of surgical patients including general surgery, trauma, and bariatric.
- Perform physical examinations
- Order, review and interpret diagnostic studies
- Provide care information and resources to patients and their families
- Provide direct post-operative care and education
- Round on inpatients in collaboration with attending surgeon
- Facilitate inpatient admissions and consultations in collaboration with attending surgeon
- Facilitate new patient outpatient consultations in collaboration with attending surgeon
- Manage surgical incisions sites, surgical wounds, and surgical drains
Requirements and Qualifications
- Two years minimum experience preferred, but not required.
- Candidate must hold the necessary licenses or certifications for either a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant.
- Nurse Practitioner: Master's degree in nursing with a current Wisconsin state nurse practitioner license. Must be board certified through the AANP or ANCC.
- Physician Assistant: Licensed by the state of Wisconsin as a Physician Assistant with certification through the NCCPA.
- ATLS certification or earn within one of hire
- Excellent communication skills and critical thinking skills
- Strong sense of compassion and personal ethics
- Ability to work efficiently
- Understands HIPAA and OSHA regulations
- Able to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians, APCs and other nurses
- Proficient in EHR medical charting system and computer-based data management programs and information systems
Work Hours & Location
This is a full-time position typically working four 10-hour days per week, Monday thru Friday, work consistent days of the week. This position may include travel to our critical access sites. Mileage reimbursement included. No call. No major holidays. No weekends (subject to change during busy surgery/trauma season, would be rotational).
