Advanced Wildland Firefighter (FF1)

Job Overview
Join our dynamic wildfire response team as an Advanced Wildland Firefighter (FF1), where your energy and expertise will play a vital role in protecting communities, natural resources, and landscapes from the threat of wildfires. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop advanced firefighting skills, work in challenging environments, and contribute to critical emergency response efforts. As an integral part of our team, you will engage in proactive fire suppression, emergency medical support, and safety operations that demand both physical stamina and a proactive mindset.

Duties

  • Respond swiftly to wildfire incidents, assisting with fire suppression strategies including creating firebreaks and managing controlled burns.
  • Operate specialized firefighting equipment such as pumps, hoses, chainsaws, and hand tools to contain and extinguish fires effectively.
  • Conduct safety assessments of fire zones, ensuring adherence to protocols and minimizing hazards for team members and the public.
  • Provide emergency medical assistance by performing first aid, CPR, and basic life support (BLS) procedures to injured personnel or civilians.
  • Assist with mechanical maintenance of firefighting vehicles and equipment to ensure operational readiness at all times.
  • Support logistical operations such as fueling vehicles, transporting supplies, and maintaining safety records during wildfire suppression activities.
  • Engage in physical tasks requiring heavy lifting, prolonged outdoor activity, and working in rugged terrain under varying weather conditions.

Requirements

  • CPR, and basic life support (BLS).
  • Mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and maintaining firefighting equipment and vehicles.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks consistently throughout shifts.
  • Experience taking vital signs and assessing vital health indicators during emergency medical situations.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and emergency responders.
  • Willingness to work extended hours in remote outdoor environments under potentially hazardous conditions. Pay: $250.00 - $400.00 per day
