Advocate Supervisor for Court Appointed Special Advocates

A CASA Volunteer Advocate Supervisor provides direct support, coaching, and supervision to volunteers advocating for abused/neglected children. They manage volunteer advocates and caseloads, ensure compliance and high-quality, professional advocacy, and provide on-call support to volunteers. They collaborate with the Executive Director to recruit and screen viable, objective, and high qualified volunteer advocates. Responsible for performing other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Volunteer Supervision:

  • Assign cases to advocates.
  • Guide, coach, and evaluate volunteers, ensuring effective advocacy and case management.
  • Maintain detailed records of volunteer activity and case developments in a database system.
  • Vet, onboard, retain, train, and hold advocates accountable to a high standard of professional ethics and performance.
  • Monitor case progress, assist in developing effective case monitoring strategies, and review child welfare reports to ensure accuracy before court submission.
  • Mentor, support, and supervise CASA volunteers, ensuring compliance with local court policies and Maryland state standards, and ensuring child contact standards are met, and all legal, confidential documentation is filed timely.

Court Attendance & Representation:

  • Accompany volunteers to hearings, meetings, and case conferences.
  • Act as a liaison between the volunteer advocate, the court, and community partners.
  • Attend Family Team Decision Making and other requisite meetings for a case.
  • Meet monthly with the CCDSS Out-of-Home Supervisor.

Training, Support, & Retention:

Participate in the training of new volunteer advocates, assisting with pre-service and in-service trainings, hold monthly trainings and supervisory meetings, and complete supervision and quarterly evaluations.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field. Experience can be substituted for a specialized degree.

Experience: Previous experience working with volunteers, abused/neglected children, or in a legal/court environment is strongly preferred. Previous experience in child welfare, social services, or volunteer management is highly valued.

Skills: Strong communication skills (written/oral), organizational, and interpersonal skills, ability to handle sensitive information confidentially, and proficiency in database software.

Requirements: A valid driver's license. Must pass comprehensive background checks.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
