Position Summary
The Equipment Technician is responsible for performing inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs) and related equipment. This role ensures all equipment is safe, compliant, and ready for sale or customer use, with work performed in accordance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and manufacturer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance and Repair
· Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on aerial lifts, including boom lifts and scissor lifts
· Work on diesel- and gasoline-powered engines, including troubleshooting fuel, starting, cooling, and performance issues
· Independently diagnose and repair electric, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, wiring, and control systems
· Read, interpret, and follow technical manuals, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and service documentation
· Identify worn or failing components and recommend corrective action
· Serve as a technical resource for less experienced technicians as needed
Inspections and Documentation
· Perform pre-delivery inspections (PDI) to ensure equipment meets manufacturer specifications and company quality standards prior to sale
· Inspect customer-owned equipment and complete service or repair work accurately and efficiently
· Document all maintenance, repairs, inspections, and safety checks to ensure traceability and compliance with company policies
· Maintain accurate records of parts usage, labor, and service
Safety and Compliance
· Follow all OSHA requirements, manufacturer guidelines, and company safety policies
· Use lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when servicing hazardous systems
· Adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements at all times
· Promptly report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near-misses to the Operations or Service Manager
· Participate in safety briefings, OSHA training, and manufacturer or industry-required training programs
· Collaborate with leadership or safety personnel on corrective actions or safety audits when needed

· Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area
· Demonstrate a positive attitude, professionalism, and willingness to support team priorities
· Communicate clearly with leadership regarding repair status, safety concerns, or parts needs
· Stay current on industry standards, technological advancements, and new aerial equipment models
Qualifications
Required Skills and Abilities
· Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems as applied to aerial lifts and heavy equipment
· Proven ability to independently diagnose and repair complex equipment issues with minimal supervision
· Strong working knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, including troubleshooting performance, fuel, and starting systems
· Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and technical service manuals
· Solid understanding of OSHA requirements, fall protection, hazard communication, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
· Ability to identify safety risks, assess equipment condition, and determine appropriate corrective action
· High level of attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality, safety, and compliance
· Ability to accurately document repairs, inspections, and safety checks in accordance with company and regulatory standards
· Experience working efficiently in a fast-paced service environment while managing multiple priorities
· Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment when diagnosing equipment failures
· Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with operations, sales, or service leadership
· Technicians must provide general hand tools necessary for equipment repair; Aerial Titans supplies OEM-specific diagnostic tools
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Technical certification in mechanics or a related field preferred
· 3-5 years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing aerial lift equipment, heavy equipment, or similar machinery, with demonstrated ability to work independently.
· Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagrams
· Direct experience servicing MEWPs, boom lifts, scissor lifts, or telehandlers strongly preferred
· Prior experience working in an equipment dealership or service environment
· Familiarity with OEM diagnostic tools and manufacturer service procedures
· Willingness to participate in ongoing training to remain current with new technologies and equipment models
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
· Comfortable working at heights and around large equipment
· Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, grease, and mechanical components
Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
