AEROSPACE MEDICINE PHYSICIAN/FLIGHT SURGEON

Position: Aerospace/Flight Medicine Physician/Surgeon

Location: JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO, TX (Lackland Air Force Base, TX 78236, US)

Type: Full time (Monday - Friday, 0730-1630)

Start Date: Immediate on completion of credentialing

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: The aerospace medicine physician shall primarily perform the duties as MAJCOM SGPA to include consultation and expert recommendations on the management, administration, and oversight of aeromedical programs for Air Education Training Command’s DLIELC.

Formal Education: Possesses a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an approved school of medicine or osteopathy.

Certification: Board certification by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) in Aerospace Medicine is strongly preferred. Board certification in Family, Occupational, or General Preventive Medicine may be accepted if experience requirements are met. Board certification in other primary care specialties may be considered on a case-by-case basis if experience requirements are met. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership in the management of aeromedical programs at the group, wing, and enterprise level and have experience providing highly specialized, service-specific examinations to ensure international military and/or US military members are fully qualified for aviation, special operations, follow- on training, or high-risk occupational duties as required.
