Oversight Duties:
- Directly oversees, trains and develops a team of accounting professionals working within the residential affordable housing sector.
- Reviews monthly, quarterly and annual financial packages prepared by accountants for accuracy and compliance.
- Mentors team members in compliance and regulatory requirements associated with state and federal housing programs within multiple states (e.g. Tax Credit, HUD, Section 8, Fair Housing).
- Responsible for critical payment tracking, including mortgage payments, real estate and personal property taxes, business licenses, etc.
- Acts as lead coordinator with client’s external service providers, including third party property management, audit and tax advisory firms.
- Serves as main point of contact for one or more clients.
- Communicates directly with senior leadership, both internally and externally, advising on project status, deadline management, critical updates, and other needed items.
Individual Contributor Duties:
- Prepares timely, complete, and accurate monthly financial reports specific to affordable programs, such as reporting for lenders, investors, and regulatory agencies.
- Responsible for cash management and accurate and timely processing of all payables and other accounting documents and records
- Ensures compliance with accounting requirements of affordable housing programs including HUD and other local/state funding sources.
- Maintains financial records related to assigned accounts in accordance with HUD regulations.
- Maintains accurate accounts receivable and payable records, monitors delinquency aging invoices, and tracks subsidy payments (Section 8, VASH, SDUF, etc.)
- Reconciles tenant ledgers, subsidy contracts, and housing assistance payment (HAP) deposits.
- Assists with preparation of year end budgets.
- Calculates monthly management fees and analyzes accounts receivable balances to ensure proper reserves.
- Prepares and submits ACH and wire transfers for processing.
- Prepares audit schedules and assists with audit questions, as necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides direct supervision to assigned team of accounting professionals. Participates in and makes recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, and disciplinary action.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting, Finance or related field from a four-year college or university with a minimum of 5 years accounting, finance, or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Direct experience working within the affordable housing sector required. Knowledge of government-funded housing programs or housing subsidies (e.g., Tax Credit, HUD, Section 8, Fair Housing or similar programs) required.
- Direct experience working within the Yardi Voyager platform required.

Communication Skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
- Ability to effectively present information in a clear, articulate, and accurate fashion.
Financial Knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations including strong knowledge of financial terms and principles.
- Advanced analytical and quantitative skills and the ability to conduct independent financial analysis.
Other Skills/Abilities
- Proficient knowledge of computer software and hardware (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite Products). Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy in a rapidly changing, fast-paced and high-volume environment.
- Ability to identify problems and take corrective action in varying and sometimes ambiguous circumstances and with limited information.
- Advanced follow-through and customer resolution skills.
