After Hours Operations Specialist

This role is critical in ensuring seamless load execution, proactive issue resolution, and high-level customer and carrier communication during nights, weekends, and holidays.

Position Overview
Freight Flex is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented After-Hours Operations Specialist to support our freight brokerage operations outside of standard business hours. This role is critical in ensuring seamless load execution, proactive issue resolution, and high-level customer and carrier communication during nights, weekends, and holidays.

You will act as the front line of support for active shipments, working closely with carriers, customers, and internal team members to keep freight moving efficiently and resolving issues in real time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and manage all active shipments during after-hours periods
  • Track loads proactively and ensure on-time pickups and deliveries
  • Communicate with carriers to confirm status updates, delays, and issues
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems such as: Missed pickups/deliveries, Equipment breakdowns, Driver delays or reschedules
  • Provide timely updates to customers via email, phone, or TMS
  • Escalate critical issues to leadership when necessary
  • Update internal systems (TMS, CRM like HubSpot, etc.) with accurate load notes
  • Ensure proper documentation and handoff to daytime operations team
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism in all communications

Schedule Expectations
Weeknights (Monday to Friday, Midnight – 0800 EST)
On-call flexibility required depending on freight volume

Strong understanding of:
Load lifecycle (dispatch transit
  • delivery)
  • Carrier communication and management
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations
  • Excellent communication skills (phone, email, text)
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently

Preferred Skills
  • Experience using TMS platforms, 3PL Software
  • Familiarity with truckload, LTL, and/or drayage operations
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Ability to multitask across multiple shipments simultaneously

What Success Looks Like
  • Loads are tracked proactively with minimal service failures
  • Issues are resolved quickly with clear communication
  • Customers feel supported even outside normal business hours
  • Clean, accurate notes for seamless transition to daytime team

Salary

$40,000 - $50,000 per year
