After-School Chess Coach

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging chess lessons and activities tailored to students of various ages and skill levels
• Manage classroom dynamics to ensure a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment
• Tutor students individually or in small groups to improve their game strategies and understanding
• Develop lesson plans that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and sportsmanship
• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage continuous improvement
• Maintain organized records of attendance, student achievements, and lesson plans
• Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school staff about student participation and progress

Requirements

• Prior experience teaching or tutoring children or adolescents in an educational setting
• Strong classroom management skills to maintain discipline and focus during activities
• Knowledge of chess rules, strategies, and teaching techniques suitable for children
• Excellent communication skills to clearly explain concepts and motivate students
• Ability to create a welcoming environment that fosters learning and confidence
• Experience working with diverse student populations and understanding their unique needs
• Passion for education, child development, and promoting strategic thinking through chess

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
