Duties

  • Plan and deliver diverse after-school programs that include arts, sports, theater, tutoring, and other enrichment activities tailored to students’ interests and developmental levels
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques
  • Ensure the safety of all participants by adhering to child safety protocols and maintaining a secure environment
  • Incorporate elements of early childhood education, special education strategies, and childhood development principles into daily activities
  • Provide first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any emergencies or behavioral issues
  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and caregivers to support each child's individual needs and progress
  • Foster a welcoming atmosphere that encourages teamwork, creativity, and personal growth among students

Experience

  • Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp counseling, tutoring, babysitting, or after-school programs
  • Knowledge of classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies
  • Familiarity with early childhood education, special education accommodations, or childhood development best practices
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred but not required; training can be provided if necessary
  • Experience in sports coaching, theater arts, or counseling is a plus for enriching program offerings
  • Demonstrated ability to engage children of various ages in educational and recreational activities with patience and enthusiasm
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, students, and families
